About Me

My brother Pete who built this website from 1’s and 0’s had this to say about me:

“quote, endquote”

Right back at ya Pano.

This is what my mom has to say about me:

“Vikki is someone you can always depend on. She is a genuine person who will not put up with nonsense. She will tell you how it is whether you like it or not. She will give you the shirt off her back if she likes you. If she doesn’t, she will not have you in her life. Vikki is not a phony.”

Thanks mom- you are the best. I know my room is a mess, but you gave me the best legs in town.

This is what my best friend Emily Knurek had to say about me for an interview with Skirt! Magazine:

“Your best friend says you are the bees knees and the cat's pajamas. Your best friend STILL says you are almost always up past her bedtime. Your best friend says you are the coolest girl she knows. Your best friend says you are strength, understanding, and whimsy. Your best friend says you are always doing a million things at once. Your best friend says you are going to end up editing whatever she says about you. Your best friend says you are on the verge of something big. Your best friend says she might have more ideas in the morning.”

Thanks Emily- I love you as much as I do the sunshine.

Here is a bio I would like to have one day. Not particularly about dance, but Martha Graham was pretty awesome.

“(Vikki Matsis) was an American dancer and choreographer regarded as one of the foremost pioneers of modern dance, whose influence on dance can be compared to the influence Stravinsky had on music, Picasso had on the visual arts, or Frank Lloyd Wright had on architecture.[1] Graham was a galvanizing performer, a choreographer of astounding productivity and originality. She invented a new language of movement, and used it to reveal the passion, the rage and the ecstasy common to human experience. She danced and choreographed for over seventy years, and during that time was the first dancer ever to perform at The White House, the first dancer ever to travel abroad as a cultural ambassador, and the first dancer ever to receive the highest civilian award of the USA: the Medal of Freedom. In her lifetime she received honors ranging from the key to the City of Paris to Japan's Imperial Order of the Precious Crown. She said "I have spent all my life with dance and being a dancer. It's permitting life to use you in a very intense way. Sometimes it is not pleasant. Sometimes it is fearful. But nevertheless it is inevitable."

Here’s another bio that I am striving towards:

“(Vikki Matsis) is a singer-songwriter whose musical style combines elements of bluegrass, neotraditional country, Americana, old-time string band music, and folk into a rustic style that she dubs "American Primitive". Her recordings feature the harmonies and unconventional guitar work of her musical partner, David Rawlings.

And to the woman who I emulate in my dreams, I am inspired and proud of Amy Goodman and would be proud to one day have a bio as great as hers.

“(Vikki Matsis) is an American broadcast journalist, syndicated columnist and author. Coverage of the peace and human rights movements — and support of the independent media — are the hallmarks of her work. Michael Delli Carpini, dean of the Annenberg School for Communication, said, "She's not an editorialist. She sticks to the facts... She provides points of view that make you think, and she comes at it by saying, 'Who are we not hearing from in the traditional media?'"[2] As an investigative journalist, she has received acclaim for exposés of human rights violations in East Timor and Nigeria.”
